Announcement: Publication of Conflict Of Interest Policies

To All IASI Members,

The Board of IASI is pleased to announce the publication of its Conflict Of Interest (COI) policies.

There are four policies. Click on the links below to access them.

In addition to this policy, there are policies for members who have other roles within the organisation.

This much-needed addition to our governance documentation is now binding for all IASI members, so please take the time to read the one(s) relevant to you thoroughly.

Key language that we would like to draw your attention to:

  • Members must avoid anything that is a conflict of interest or conflict of loyalty with the Association.

  • A Member promoting a directly competing organisation and favouring that organisation will trigger a conflict of interest.

  • Members (and volunteers) undertake that they shall immediately notify the Association in writing in the event that a conflict of interest arises.

  • Under Regulation [8] of the Articles of Association the Board may invoke disciplinary proceedings and impose sanctions [up to and including expulsion/removal as a Member].

This is of particular relevance in relation to IASI members who are also involved with PSIE. For those current members whom this policy affects, we expect you to notify us immediately in writing, as described in the COI documents.

If you have any questions about the Conflict Of Interest policies, please feel free to get in touch, as outlined in the documents.

On the subject of PSIE, please see the below extract from the ISIA newsletter that was

circulated to ISIA member associations on 30.06.25. It summarises the key points that emerged from the ISIA Assembly of the Delegates 2025 – 7th April, Vail, USA.

Parallel educating bodies: CSIA addressed the issue of bodies such as PSIC and PSIE, that are selling ski instructors education, delivering the misleading message that they are professional bodies worldwide recognised. CSIA requested the Colleague Members from ISIA to stand together against this situation, and to refuse any sort of recognition to the leaders of the two organisations and to the licenses that they are delivering. The short discussion from the Assembly highlighted a positive note on the request from CSIA. As already stressed during the AD 2024, and as per ISIA Code of conduct, the Snowsports instructors “are required… to behave loyally towards the profession and the professional associations” (Par. 1.6). The foundation of such associations claiming to deliver professional qualifications and competing directly against the ISIA Members, is infringing the ISIA Code of conduct, allowing therefore ISIA and their Members to undertake suspension actions against those trainers and instructors that are actively cooperating with such parallel bodies.

As a member association of ISIA, we adhere to the ISIA Code of Conduct, and require our members who hold the ISIA stamp or card to do likewise.

Best regards,

The IASI Board
